Eccentric David Dickinson, presenter of Bargain Hunt and antiques expert who is famous for his brightly coloured tailor suits was invited to BBC 1's genealogy show 'Who Do You Think You Are?' which helps celebrities trace their families and heritage. The show brought the presenter to Turkey, where long unanswered questions regarding his origins were finally answered.

David was adopted as a baby in Cheshire, which he only found out when he was eleven years old. Having grew up in Stockport, David had no idea that his ancestry lied in Turkey. David’s mother Eugenie Gulessarian was a Turkish Armenian from Istanbul whose family owned a textile company in Manchester, which they opened in 1904. The business was one of many in the area, as Armenians dominated the textile trade between Manchester and the Ottoman Empire.

David who proudly claims his tan is from his Armenian ancestry tracked down his mother Eugenie when he was in his twenties, but never knew his father. David who is famous for his catchphrases “As Cheap as Chips” or “Bobby dazzlers” told the BBC: "I think as a little boy, having found out that I came from this Armenian stock I've always wanted to know more about it.”
