23 year-old Cypriot Meliz Serman who last week gave an interview to Toplum Postası made it to the second round of BBC ONE’s “How to solve a problem like Maria?” Meliz is currently competing with eight other girls to star as Maria von Trapp (Austrian matriarch of the Trapp Family Singers), the leading role in the West-End musical “The Sound of Music”.
However, Meliz who received the lowest number of televotes of all the nine contestants had to compete with Belinda Evans in a quick duo performance of ‘Another Suitcase In Another Hall from Evita’ to stay in the contest. Judging the duo performance, Andrew Lloyd Webber was impressed by Meliz’ singing performance and selected her to continue in this week’s contest, Belinda Evans however was voted off.
This week Meliz will need the extra support of her community to make it through to the third round.
