RenkArt presents “The Owners of the Keys”

London-based RenkArt Readers’ Theatre presented “The Owners of the Keys” (the owners of keys) a performance written by Milan Kundera and directed by Ozgur Akbaba last weekend. The unique performance, which was based around events in the Second World War took place on the May 27 last weekend at RenkArt in Stoke Newington, London. Among the young performers were Ahmet Doğan, Ayşegül Altın, Abdullah Tercanlı, Özgür Akbaba, Doğukan Çınar, Deniz Gezici, Emine Tatlıses, Şengül Kaplan, Müzeyyen Kaygısız and Tuncay Akpınar. A Czech-born writer and philosopher, Milan Kundera who was attracted by Marxism has writen many books in Czech and French about life during World War II and the German occupation. The Owners of the Keys, one of the first written works of Kundera, but is considered by some to be essentially Communist propaganda, but Kundera was expelled from the Communist Party in 1970 and fled to France in 1975. |
