In light of this research and the fact that we should all eat more fruit in our diet there’s nothing like a fruit smoothie to brighten your day. With summer fast approaching and an abundance of fruit and vegetables to choose from, anything goes with a smoothie but here are some recipes to get you started. Cheers!
With all smoothie recipes, all you need to do is put all the ingredients in a blender and whiz to a smooth consistency. You can add yoghurt, milk or even ice cream.
Strawberry and Mango Smoothie
A few strawberries, stalks removed
One banana, peeled and chopped
One mango, peeled and chopped
The juice of one orange (alternatively 100ml orange juice will do)
Berry Madness
150 to 200g of berry fruits such as raspberries, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, even gooseberries
About 200ml of any juice such as orange or apple
Yoghurt Berry Madness – as above but add 150g of yoghurt, a tablespoon of honey and some nuts or seeds to really boost your day.
Coconut Smoothie
Half a coconut, chopped
Juice of one coconut, alternatively use about 50ml from a carton
1 Peach, stone removed but skin on
1 Apricot, stone removed but skin on
Apple and Ginger Smoothie – great as a pick me up in the morning
1 Apple, such as granny smith cored but skin on, chopped
1 small, about an inch, of fresh ginger, peeled and grated
2 tablespoons of low fat natural yoghurt
1 tablespoon of honey Juice of half a lemon
